Quick Shtick Writing #1

Status:
Writing project, as complete as it's likely to get. Whole story, but extremely rough. This was the first of our Quick Shtick Writing exercises. Amy and I took turns writing it, at something like a paragraph each at a time. It was also an exercise in letting a plot develop itself, so we didn't plan in advance, and didn't discuss much where it was going. Nothing has been edited or revised (or even proofread damn, near). Judge the results for what they are...

Premise:
Two Chicago police officers trying to unravel a murderous conspiracy.

Commentary:
This was the first of our Quick Shtick Writing exercises. Amy and I took turns writing it, at something like a paragraph each at a time. It was also an exercise in letting a plot develop itself, so we didn't plan in advance, and didn't discuss much where it was going. There was some about where it might be going, but nothing was firm until written. We did nearly write ourselves into a corner in the process.
It seemed like half the posts were a challenge to see where the other one could take it next. It's an odd story with a number of inconsistencies. It's also so far the one least likely to get revised enough to be publishable. It wasn't intended to be, so it is what it is.
